As a collaboration between Mishal Pakistan and the International Center for Journalists, it serves as an opportunity to improve the coverage of Pakistan in American media organizations by giving journalists firsthand knowledge of Pakistan, and by connecting them with credible Pakistani journalists and other civil society actors. It provides an important opening for media professionals that shape discussions and disseminate the news in the US to build an understanding of Pakistani work and culture, which will help to educate their audiences and eliminate the misperceptions that people carry in the U.S about the residents of Pakistan.

The delegation included editors, columnists, reporters, multimedia editors and op-ed writers from broadcast and print newsrooms from across the United States, representing organizations such as the Miami Herald, Sacramento Bee, Chicago Public Radio, PBS News Hour, and the McClatchy Bureau in Washington D.C. among others. (For the complete bios of the participating journalists, click here.)

The delegation was given a warm welcome at the institute, where they were given a brief introduction to the life and work of the Director and to the institute itself. After this, the journalists were given a brief overview of the institute’s work in philosophy, particularly the basics of Evolutionary Mentology and the goals of the Philosophy Department. They also gained an insight into musicology and its practical applications in instrument making and groundbreaking work in sound engineering. Then they were taken on a tour of all the departments. The visit ended with a listening session on the Bhulley Audio System and an interview with the Director.

The institute is pleased to have been a part of this important collaboration.
