Noor Zehra Kazim performs with sons at Coke Studio

Noor Zehra Kazim and her sons, belonging to the mainstream band – noori, performed at the popular fusion music show, Coke Studio which is in its third season.

The mother-son trio collaborated to recreate the legendary folk tune ‘Hor Vi Neewan Ho’, originally sung by late Hamid Ali Bela. Interestingly, the source of inspiration for this performance has also been an original Sanjannagar production of the same song, recorded by Mr. Raza Kazim himself.

This is the first time the Sagar Veena has been showcased on the mainstream/commercial music platform. Although the instrument has been used in a relatively limited capacity – compared to the usual, solo recordings and performances – Coke Studio has presented a great opportunity for the instrument to reach out to a whole new category of listeners.

Let’s see how it impacts its new audience.
